There are many people out there just like you. They are aware that they could probably do a better job of taking care of their bodies, but they don’t take the necessary steps to make it a reality. Those are the people that say they don’t have time to get treatment, or the time to explore what more effective treatments might be out there. They are the ones who are unwilling to invest in their bodies. They know they should do something, but don’t know what to do, either because they’re too overwhelmed to look or because they tried something and it didn’t work. Some just accept pain and decreased performance as normal and unavoidable.
They accept not being able to chase after their kids or grandkids. They accept stopping their favourite sport because it’s too painful. They let pain take over for the things they actually enjoy. They either stop moving, or they take on activities they don’t actually enjoy, because it’s the only thing that doesn’t hurt (or doesn’t hurt as much).
The reality is that I’m guilty of making excuses and putting aside the things I want to do. I’m guilty of NOT dealing with small problems that eventually become big problems. I’m guilty of waiting too long and being in pain, even though I know it was avoidable.
I have ignored pain and let it build over time without taking action. I have gone long periods of time without getting treatment, even though I work and teach with some of the best therapists in the city. Worst of all, I have been content to only play sports without spending time preparing my body for the demands of those activities.
My sports, activities, and health are extremely important to me. I looked forward to being active for a long time, but my actions did not support those goals.
The result was a severe tendon tear in my groin that kept me out of the sports I love for months. I was in pain, I didn’t know when I’d be able to play the sports I loved again, and I was constantly waiting for it to get better, rather than doing the things that made me happy.
During that process I realized how much ‘investing in my body’ was a perfect analogy: by putting in moderate amounts over a long period of time, I can get a HUGE return in the long term.
Nowadays, I don’t settle for pain, tightness or decreased mobility.
I don’t make excuses like “I don’t have time.”
I tackle small issues head-on, and don’t let them turn into big problems.
Even with my hectic schedule, I don’t make excuses about a lack of time. I put money aside to dedicate to the treatment I need from the experts I trust. And I no longer take my body for granted, because I know that what I get out of it will be proportionate to what I put in.
I have brought together the best treatment techniques and some of the city’s most talented therapists in our one of a kind clinic to help people like you rethink their bodies and to redefine what the best treatment can be. My intention is to eliminate all of the excuses that are stopping you from taking action and improving your body in the short term for the long term. And so I take it personally when people don’t get the treatment they need, or don’t take action despite knowing they really needed it. Because with what we now offer at Endeavour, the future no longer hinges on what is available to you, but rather on my ability to help you take the first step.
